Block Party and BBQ

Hey all, some news.

Block Party, the club event at the end of Week of Welcome, is on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As usual, we'll have a booth set up to try to get some new members to join. If you're in the area and would like to hang out at the booth to help us recruit then we'd love to have you. Cosplay or Minna t-shirts are suggested.

As part of Block Party, I'd like to have a slide show of pictures of past Minna events that we can show, but I'm fairly low on pictures. If anyone has any pictures of Minna events, please send them to me or upload them to the Minna gallery (http://www.sukiyakisoftware.net/mnagallery). Halloween Party, or Open House would be great, if anyone has them!

Last, we're planning on doing a BBQ after block party kinda like last year. It'll be on Sunday, probably starting in the early afternoon and feeding people around dinner time. However, we'd like to do it potluck, so if all returning members could bring some food, that'd be appreciated. Here are some of the things that people could provide:

Since we're expecting a lot of people, we should probably have two people providing things like burgers and dogs. If there's something you want to provide, POST HERE. And if there's already a name or two for something PLEASE CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE. I'd rather not have a BBQ with just plates.... I'll keep this list updated with things people are providing.

trust me, as much as I'd LOVE Clannad on the lineup, it didn't fly over too well with the other officers... something about the characters having too much of emo-whiny backstories for a DRAMA anime...

I can bring some hot dogs. I can probably bring enough for many many rounds. I should be getting some moola when I get to SLO. Also, Costco = genius.

Block Party info for you guys

We're in booth number 94, sharing space with Polycon (who will be bringing shade!, a table and chairs). Block Party is on Dexter Lawn this year; our booth will be right off the diagonal pathway across Dexter, kinda in the middle.

Also, since we're sharing space with Polycon, they're letting us have a room in building 8 for showing anime. As part of this, we need volunteers to monitor the room and change out the dvds. I'm assuming this will be going on from the start of block party (4pm) to 10pm. If you're interested, let us know when and how long you can.

As part of this, we'd like to show a movie (Howl's Moving Castle) at the end (8:00 pm tentatively).

Oh, and we don't need to have only one person in the screening room at a time. It would be nice for the freshman to have a few people to be able to socialize with, meet the club. We just need at least one person in the time to make sure the schedule keeps moving.
